White Rose Agility

White Rose Agility is a competition agility club based in Halifax, West Yorkshire in England. There are normally about 20 members competing with dogs of all standards from Grade 1 to Grade 7 and at all heights: Small, Medium and Large.

White Rose Agility trains on Wednesday evenings only, and takes only handlers and dogs that are already competing in Kennel Club or equivalent standard shows. Members attend shows most weekends of the year - especially in the summer - and judge or ring party at many of them. As a club we believe firmly in having fun, and in putting something back into the sport that we all enjoy so much.

Currently there are no vacancies. Training is to KC regulations, eg up-contacts are trained as well as down-contacts.

Busy! Busy! Busy!

Unusually, all but 2 of the 19 members turned up for training last night, so there was a real buzz and sense of purpose about the place.

Training started with all 5 of the young dogs working well for their hour's training in the pre-competition class. We can't really call them puppies any more, as they are coming closer to their first shows in a couple of months time, and looking so promising too!

The 2 Small dogs and 3 of the Large dogs were absent from the Competiton classes, but the other 21 dogs were all present to tackle the two courses featuring elements from training in the last few weeks - obstacle discrimination, flick flacks, tight wraps, send ons and outs, and, obviously, fast accurate contacts and weaves. (The easier of the courses is shown above)

As instructor for one of the classes I was delighted how the handlers worked the courses and how the dogs attacked the courses with enthusiasm. We had all Grades of dogs and handlers present, with some differentiation of course to reflect this.

Looking forward to next week already!!
